LUCKY 7 GET $5K FOR EMBRACING THE RACE!

The massive Saturday crowd at the Armor All Gold Coast 600 was one of the most colourful in the event’s history, with one group from Ashmore on the Gold Coast entering the Embrace the Race contest and winning $5,000 – and the fun doesn’t stop there, with another five grand up for grabs in the final day of the event.

The group – who made their outfits in honour of their Holden allegiances – was one of many entries that visited the Sea FM stage within the Armor All Gold Coast 600 infield to register their details.

Race organisers have been keen to get race fans creative and embrace the international spirit of the race.

So far, it seems to be working!

“We’ve had a sensational response to Embrace the Race and expect tomorrow’s crowd to be even more colourful and creative with their outfits,” said V8 Supercars Acting CEO, Shane Howard.

“The international format of the Armor All Gold Coast 600 has taken another step forward this year, as we saw this afternoon with a fantastic and interesting race all the way through.

“The Embrace the Race entries were of a very high level, we certainly foresee tomorrow being even better. Everyone’s been talking about the race on the Gold Coast and as we’ve seen – in it’s 21st year it just gets better and better.”

After the 102 lap epic this afternoon won by Jamie Whincup and Sebastien Bourdais – race-goers were able to rock all night at the Broadwater Parklands to the likes of Simple Minds, the Hoodoo Gurus, Eskimo Joe and Masters Apprentices.

Tomorrow – race-goers will have the opportunity to participate in Embrace the Race once again – and can win another $5,000.

Organisers are expecting the bumper Sunday crowd to really get into the spirit of Embrace the Race as the crowds today have.

Those in the Versace track side lounge were also focused on those attending the race, with several celebrities enjoying the lounge’s hospitality and the atmosphere of the event.

Headlining act for tonight’s 600 Sounds concert, legendary Scottish band Simple Minds stopped by, along with a host of local celebrities including Rugby League icons Gorden Tallis and Scott Prince.

The event tomorrow will feature another 102 lap stoush on the streets of Surfers and a full support card for the final day of the Armor All Gold Coast 600.
